natural deodorant recipe card

So this Christmas I made handmade gifts for people – one of the gifts I planned on giving was natural deodorant. However, before gifting the homemade natural deodorant I wanted to test it out to see if it actually worked, as giving deodorant is a pretty unique gift so you’ve got to be pretty confident that what you’re giving works!! I’ve tried a bunch of natural deodorants before but I always end up smelling bad by the end of the day, sometimes only an hour or so after applying the product. So I came up with my own recipe and have been testing it for over a month now.

Good news! This deodorant is THE BOMB! And it REALLY does work!

This natural deodorant recipe is super simple, uses only a couple of ingredients which you are likely to have around the house and it ACTUALLY works! Winning! Plus, it’s cheap to make!

My husband uses it too and he’s been super happy with the results as well.

Another bonus is that it smells SO good. My daughter has been asking to use it because she loves the smell. She’s 4, she really has no use for deodorant but because it’s natural I let her play and use it just like mummy and daddy. In fact, she helped me make a batch because the recipe is that simple.

As a runner, I need a deodorant that’s going to last the distance and this natural deodorant has passed this test. I have applied it at the start of the day and have no body odour ALL DAY.

I think the key to this, is using tea tree oil. This makes the deodorant smell amazing but also tea tree oil is an antibacterial and antifungal so it works so well in this natural recipe.

Natural Deodorant Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup baking powder
  • 1/2 cup cornflour
  • 5 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 25 drops of tea tree oil

Instructions

  1. Mix baking powder together with cornflour in a bowl.
  2. Add the coconut oil and mix well.
  3. Add the 25 drops of tea tree and mix together to ensure even distribution.
  4. Spoon into a clean container (hot top – old dip containers are GREAT!)
  5. Use your fingers to apply a small amount of paste to the underarm area and you are good to go!

Note: If the paste is too dry just add a touch more coconut oil. The consistency will change during warmer and cooler weather.

I adapted this recipe from one I found here. Let me know what you think and how it works for you!
